Announcement of the 2024 NZ Masters Swimming Championships
We are excited to be partnering with NZ Masters Swimming for the second year in a row to deliver the 2024 NZ Masters Swimming Championships to help get more people active. The event will be held on Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 June at the Sir Owen G Glenn National Aquatic Centre in Auckland.
Following the outstanding feedback received from participants at the 2023 event held in Hawke’s Bay, we are stoked to be continuing to host this event again in 2024. There was an awesome supportive and social atmosphere during the champs, and we can’t wait to continue growing this event in 2024.
The event is available to anyone aged 18 and older, without the requirement to be a member of either Swimming NZ or NZ Masters Swimming. We encourage anyone who enjoys having a swim with their friends to be involved and give it a go. Whether it be the first time you’ve donned the togs for a splash and dash 50m race in years, or you’ve challenged yourself to get back in the pool, there is a race for everyone.
There are also loads of relay opportunities to swim where everyone can be involved. Whether you enter a club team from your NZ Masters club, or you want to pull together your mates, we encourage everyone to enjoy the fun atmosphere that social racing provides at the NZ Masters Swimming Championships.
Swimming NZ’s Head of Participation & Events, Dale Johnson, says this is the perfect opportunity to continue Unlocking Your Greatness by staying active in the water during the winter months.
“There are so many health and wellbeing benefits that come from staying active in the water, and sometimes it helps to have a goal to work towards. We encourage everyone to continue Unlocking Your Greatness by adding the champs to their calendar and getting your entries in so you don’t miss out on being part of the fun pool side. I personally loved the opportunity to have a race at the event in 2023 and can’t wait to have another go in 2024.”
NZ Masters Swimming’s President, Russell Jones, is also excited about seeing the event proceed in 2024.
“This is a great event on the calendar for Masters swimmers as we get to catch up with friends from across the country. We can’t wait to see everyone in Auckland in June.”
The event information is now available on the event webpage and entries are now open.
We have also added a social gathering after racing on Saturday night so everyone can get catch up away from the pool as well. Make sure you lock in your ticket as part of your entry.
