Coaches Involved in Targeted Coach Education Programme

Announcement of Coaches in the Coach-TED Programme with Wayne Goldsmith

We are excited to introduce a swimming coach education and mentoring programme developed specifically for coaches within New Zealand. The programme is called Coach-TED (pronounced "coached"), standing for coach training, education and development. We are stoked to have Wayne Goldsmith, renowned sports coaching mentor, leading the programme to assist our coaches in further developing their skills. The programme is available to selected NZ Swimming coaches that will offer a unique opportunity to experience a tailor-made, individualised learning and professional development environment.

Commencing in October 2023 and continuing through to 2025, we are thrilled to announce the 20 coaches that will be in the first intake of this new world-class coach and professional development opportunity. We have also announced a further 15 coaches who have been identified as talented coaches and will have the opportunity to engage in some of the development opportunities that the course provides, with the intention that this assists them for inclusion in the second cohort in 2024-25.

As part of the group, we have a mixture of experienced coaches who will be supporting the programme in a mentoring capacity. We would like to thank these long-standing coaches Sandra Burrow (TBSS Central City) and Henk Greupink (Te Arawa) for being involved and sharing their experiences throughout the programme.

Wayne Goldsmith is looking forward to introducing the programme within New Zealand.

“I am excited to be working with the swimming coaches of NZ. I’ve been to NZ many times, about 50 visits over the past 30 years and I always love being here. I am looking forward to the Coach-TED programme with more enthusiasm and energy than anything I’ve done previously in New Zealand."

Congratulations to the coaches who have been accepted into this incredible development opportunity:
