Record Breaking Start

2022 Apollo Projects National Age Group Swimming Championships.


Mens 1500m

This years 1500m race belongs to Larn Hamblyn-Ough who backed up his stellar performances from the recent Apollo Projects Aotearoa Champs. By claiming an impressive victory in the 16 year old age group as well as the fastest overall time. Leading the way for the 14 year old's was Ethan Stocks. With Daniel Callebaut taking out the 15 year old's and Oxford Bayley winning the 17-18 year age group.



Womens 800m

Keira Allott pulled away from the field to win the 17-18 year age group in the fastest overall time. With impressive swims also coming in from Talitha McEwan to dominate the 16 year old age group and Brooke Bennett who won the 15 year old age group in a time that would've placed her 3rd overall. While Olivia Emmett held her own to win the 14 year old title.




Mens 400m IM

It was all about Sam Brown in the mens 400IM with the local swimmer winning in dominant fashion. After going out hard, Sam didn't miss a beat coming in home in a new PB time which was 17 seconds faster than anyone else. Isaac Williams took out the 16 years age group with Kevin Zhang producing a solid time to win the 15 year age group and Hamish Giddens comfortably winning the the 14 year age group.





Womens 200m IM

It was Zyleika Pratt-Smith's night in the 200m IM with the Coast swimmer streaking away to claim the national title in the 17-18 year age group. Hope Chimel held off the fast charging Neve Tassicker to win the 16 year title. While Gabrielle Doyle and Kate Hurley won the 15 & 14 year age groups respectively.




Mens 100m Breast MC

After taking the New Zealand Open Record in this morning's heat session, Asher Smith-Franklin backed up to lower this time to 1:19.63 and take the win in the SB14 category. Bailey Conlon continued a run of strong swimming performances to take a silver medal.




Womens 100m Breast MC

Rylee Sayer produced a swim to be very proud of when she claimed the New Zealand Open Record in the SB14 category. With Sionnan Murphy going very close to her own SB6 record in an impressive winning performance.





Mens 50m Back

Cameron Gray is undoubtedly the man to beat in New Zealand sprinting at the moment after taking home the 17-18 year age title to go with his Aotearoa title from a couple week's ago. Local lad Finn Harland pulled away from the field early to win his 16 year old final. With William Seymour winning the 15 year age group and Liam Vogel winning the 14 year age group.



Womens 50m Back

Amber George stepped up into the 17-18 age group in style by just edging out Zyleika Pratt-Smith to win her final. Liv Peebles finished strongly to hold off her clubmate to win the 16 year age group. With Isabelle Gibson winning the 15 year age group, Pippa Mihaka taking the 14 year age group and Milan Glintmeyer cruising to victory in the 13 year age group.
