Team Announcement – 2026 Oceania Swimming Championships

We’re delighted to announce the 28 swimmers selected to represent New Zealand at the 2026 Oceania Swimming Championships, to be held in Suva, Fiji from 9–12 May.
The Oceania Swimming Championships is a key regional event, bringing together swimmers from across the Pacific. As the regional championships for World Aquatics, the competition is open to 15 member federations and provides developing swimmers with the opportunity to gain international racing exposure, refine their skills, and compete for medals in a multi-nation environment.
Traditionally held every two years, New Zealand has a strong history at the event, including topping the medal table at the 2018 edition of the championships in Papua New Guinea.
Following strong performances at the 2026 New Zealand Age Group Swimming Championships in Hawke’s Bay, this team reflects the strength of athletes progressing along the Olympic pathway.
The team will be led by Dave Prattley (North Canterbury) as Team Leader and Head Coach, with Janelle Harland (Capital) as Team Manager. Hannah Sutherland (Selwyn) and Ryan Lockwood (Phoenix Aquatics) have been named as Team Coaches, with their appointment reflecting our commitment to developing emerging coaching talent.
Prattley sees this international competition as an important step in athlete development.
“Competing at the Oceania Championships is a significant milestone for our athletes. It’s a chance to not only race against competitors from across the region, but also to represent their club and country on the international stage. We are proud of the commitment and hard work that has brought them to this point, and I am looking forward to leading this team in Fiji.”
Congratulations to all the swimmers and coaches selected for the Oceania Swimming Championships. The full team is listed below, recognising the coach and club for each selected athlete.
