Introducing Dive Start Clinics To Inspire The Next Generation

An overview of the new Dive Start Clinics being delivered in 2023

Swimming NZ is excited to introduce Dive Start Clinics in 2023. The clinics will be delivered by some of our top Aquablack heroes including NZ’s most decorated Paralympian, Dame Sophie Pascoe, Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, Lewis Clareburt, and Paralympic Gold Medallist Cameron Leslie. The clinics will be focused on stroke and skills development in a fun environment for 2 hours.

The Dive Start Clinics will be held alongside SNZ events across the 2023 calendar year and are designed as an opportunity for younger swimmers to learn skills in and out of the pool from their Aquablack heroes for just longer than an hour, as well as get the opportunity to meet their heroes through a Question & Answer session and concludes with the chance to get a photo and autograph.

SNZ’s Head of Participation & Events, Dale Johnson, is stoked to see SNZ providing these new opportunities for kids across the country to get involved.

“We have identified the Dive Start Clinics as an opportunity for kids to meet, learn from and be inspired by some of our top swimmers. We envisage this clinic to be something that each kid will remember for a lifetime. Each kid will get the opportunity to learn skills from some of our best swimmers.”

Johnson also noted these clinics will be beneficial to our Aquablacks too.

“We also identified these clinics as a great opportunity for our Aquablacks to help inspire and give back to the next generation through an experience that the kids will never forget, whilst provide our Aquablacks with some additional financial support to assist with their current journey within the sport.”

The clinics are designed for younger club and competitive swimmers around the ages of 10 - 14 years who are looking to enhance their skills in the respective strokes. The clinics will suit those who have been training with a club.

Spots are limited in each location to 40 participants, so please don’t wait to register as it is first in best dressed. Tickets are now on sale for $50 each.
