Some of NZ's top swimmers will be signing autographs and taking photos
We are stoked to announce a new initiative of Aquablack Signing & Photo Sessions at our national events in 2023. These will be kicking off at the upcoming 2023 Apollo Projects NZ Swimming Championships in Auckland and the 2023 Apollo Projects NZ Age Group Swimming Championships in Hawke’s Bay.
Sessions will be free to attend and open to the public. We encourage the local community to come along and meet some of our top swimmers and a get an autograph and photo.
Swimmers involved include Commonwealth Games Gold Medallists Andrew Jeffcoat and Lewis Clareburt, as well as Tokyo Olympian Zac Reid. For a full list of which athletes will attend each event, please see the list below.
This is the first time Swimming NZ has hosted an opportunity for the community to meet their heroes like this. SNZ’s Head of Participation & Events, Dale Johnson, is thrilled about providing this session.
“At the Apollo Projects Junior Festivals last year, we saw how popular it was having some of our Aquablacks attend for photos and autographs. We think this is an awesome chance to meet and greet with some of our top swimmers. It’s a great way to engage with the local community alongside our national events. We strongly encourage the community to take this opportunity and watch the racing that evening too.”
The session finishes just before racing gets underway for finals session at each opportunity, so we encourage the community to purchase a ticket to watch our swimmers in action.
Also on the final night of the 2023 Apollo Projects NZ Swimming Championships is the NZ team announcements for the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, the World Para Swimming Championships in Manchester and the USA Tour team.
