Update – Swimming NZ Adopts Code for Integrity in Sport and Recreation
The Sport Integrity Commission Te Kahu Raunui welcomes Swimming New Zealand as the latest national sporting organisation to adopt the Code for Integrity in Sport and Recreation (Integrity Code), effective today, Tuesday 1 September 2026.
Representatives from Swimming New Zealand will visit the Sport Integrity Commission office to mark their Integrity Code adoption in a formal ceremony on Thursday 24 September.
The adoption of the Integrity Code reinforces Swimming New Zealand’s commitment to member wellbeing, safety and integrity, says Swimming New Zealand CEO Steve Johns.
"Adopting the Code is an important step in strengthening our wellbeing and integrity systems and policies, ensuring we provide the safest environment possible for our members."
Sport Integrity Commission Chief Executive Rebecca Rolls said that Swimming New Zealand's commitment helps to strengthen the sport and recreation sector for everyone in Aotearoa New Zealand.
"We're delighted to welcome Swimming New Zealand to the Integrity Code whānau. Every organisation that adopts the Integrity Code helps to weave a stronger integrity culture across the sector."
The Integrity Code is a framework of consistent minimum standards that aim to make sport and recreation safer and fairer for everyone in Aotearoa. The minimum standards help organisations prevent and respond to harmful behaviours and address integrity issues consistently, at all levels, from local clubs to national or high-performance organisations.
By adopting the Integrity Code, Swimming New Zealand joins an increasing number of organisations using the Code framework to strengthen integrity across their communities, making sure that everyone can enjoy their favourite activities in spaces that are safe, fair and respectful.

About the Sport Integrity Commission Te Kahu Raunui (the Commission)
The Sport Integrity Commission Te Kahu Raunui (the Commission) exists to safeguard integrity in sport and recreation across Aotearoa New Zealand. It has also taken on Drug Free Sport New Zealand’s anti-doping functions as Aotearoa New Zealand’s national anti-doping organisation.
The Commission is an independent Crown entity established under the Integrity Sport and Recreation Act 2023. It is the Commission’s responsibility to prevent and address threats to integrity in sport and recreation, and to promote trust and confidence in integrity within the sport and recreation sectors. Funded by the New Zealand Government, the Commission is accountable to the Minister for Sport and Recreation and the New Zealand Government.
