2022 FINA World Championships Diary by Gary Francis "Gaz" - Competition Day Eight
Competition Day Eight
Hi Everyone,
Final day of racing and finally Mya got her chance to debut as an Aquablack.
Despite the unsettled 24 hours she had just been through she pulled out a PB and just missed the top 8, finishing 10th overall. Her performance is a testament to her sheer professionalism and attitude throughout the tour so far. Even during the race she suffered from stomach cramps that are probably due to the antibiotics she has been taking……not that anyone other than myself and the Alex Lowen would have known!
Overall Results
Our final results are generally very encouraging:
5 finals
6 more top 16’s
2 NZ records
3 PB's
A few more PBS would have been good, but nearly every athlete improved on their entry ranking including our finalists who all improved on their Olympic results. Now we have to move on and work at the areas we have identified as crucial to future improvement.
Peace Out
The sign on the entrance to the pool is a mosaic of every athlete and support team member at the event. See if you can spot us!
