Announcement of the Date & Location for NZ Championships in 2026
We are thrilled to continue unveiling the dates and locations for the 2026 competition calendar, with another pool competition announcement.
The 2026 New Zealand Swimming Championship will be held between 13 - 17 May at the Sir Owen G Glenn National Aquatic Centre. It will be the second consecutive year that the national championships will be held in Auckland.
Swimming NZ’s Head of Participation, Competitions & Engagement, Dale Johnson, believes it's the ideal location for the championships again next year.
"After a successful NZ Champs with lots of fast swimming last month, it's great to continue our partnership with AUT Millennium into the second consecutive year. It's always an excellent location to host our pinnacle championships."
In continuing with the Competition Review recommendations, the championships will be hosted in the mid-May timeframe, about five weeks after the 2026 NZ Age Group Swimming Championships.
Please stay tuned for further announcements regarding the 2026 competition calendar in the coming months. We will be confirming dates and venues for each event shortly after hosting the respective 2025 editions. Details such as competition criteria – including the information book, event schedule, and qualifying times – will be released at a later date, to be confirmed later this year.
