Expressions of Interest for the Upcoming Competition Review (2025 - 2028)
We are excited to commence the next Competition Review for the upcoming 4-year cycle from 2025 – 2028. This is the next step in reviewing the competitions offered at all levels of swimming across New Zealand, and the pathways linking the competitions as well.
We had a thorough process during 2019 – 2020, with the final recommendations published in June 2020. There have been some learnings over the past few years since the last review, so this Competition Review is vital in helping the sport continue to move forward.
We are forming a working group to play an integral part of the review, and we are seeking expressions of interest to fill these positions. We are seeking the following positions on the working group:
Up to 6 coaches – must be a variety of coaches from rural/metro, senior/age/junior/Para swimmers focus and a spread across the country
Up to 2 active swimmers living within New Zealand
Up to 2 event delivery staff from local centres around New Zealand
The scope, responsibilities and expected timeline for the working group are outlined in the Terms of Reference below.
We are seeking expressions of interest to fill the roles listed above by completing a short online form by Sunday 1 October at 11.59pm.
Swimming NZ's Head of Participation & Events, Dale Johnson, believes this is a great opportunity to help us shape our competitions over the next few years.
"This Competition Review is an important step in ensuring we are offering the best competitions and pathways for our sport. This is a great opportunity to be involved, and I urge everyone who is interested in being involved in the working group to read the Terms of Reference and complete the short expression of interest form."
Johnson also encourages those not in the working group to be part of the process.
"For those not in the working group, please keep an eye out for the opportunity for community feedback on the proposal from the working group at the end of the year and start of the new year. To help us to continually improve the delivery of our sport, receiving your feedback through this process is crucial."
Following the expressions of interest closing on 1 October, the working group will be formed and commence the Competition Review in the back-end of 2023 and into the new year.
