Team Announcement for the 2025 Tri Series

We are delighted to announce the 40 swimmers selected on the two New Zealand teams for the 2025 Tri Series. The competition will be hosted by reigning champions Victoria in Ballarat from 10 – 12 July. This is during the Term 2 school holidays and the racing will follow some days in a team camp prior.
The Tri Series is a competition that has been specifically designed to introduce developing swimmers to the demands of performance racing in an international environment. For the third consecutive year, the Tri Series will see two New Zealand teams battling it out against two Australian states in Victoria and Western Australia. The age distinction of the two New Zealand teams enables specific focus on the NAGS swimmers, adding significant internal competition to the mix.
With the strength and depth shown by our age group swimmers at the recent 2025 Apollo Projects NZ Age Group Swimming Championships in Hawke's Bay and the 2025 Apollo Projects NZ Swimming Championships in Auckland, it's excellent to recognise these athletes from the Olympic and Paralympic pathway and their club and coaches.
The team will be led by David Lyles (Phoenix Aquatics) as the Head Coach of these New Zealand teams. Lyles brings a wealth of knowledge as a coach, from having swimmers compete at eight Olympic Games and recently as a coach in Paris last year, which will benefit the development of the swimmers on these teams.
Lyles believes Tri Series is an important step in athlete development.
"As a coach, I have spent over 30 years working at the elite end of world swimming, but as a parent, I have witnessed first hand the positive effect that being part of the Tri Series team has had on my own child."
Lyles is looking forward to leading the team when they travel to Victoria in July.
"I am delighted to be involved with the 2025 Tri Series teams, highly impressed by the performances I saw at NAGS and NZ Champs, and encouraged by the experience and passion of the team staff. I hope that all these young athletes will grasp this amazing opportunity and see it as the first step on their ladder of success. Let's go to Australia to perform, to excel and to win!"
Seven swimmers were part of the 2024 Tri Series teams, will bring their experience from last year to help guide their respective team in July.
Congratulations to the Olympic and Paralympic pathway swimmers and the coaches selected for the Tri Series trip to Victoria. We have listed the full teams below plus recognising the coach and the club for each swimmer selected.
