Amber George made her Aquablack debut at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, where she contested the women's 50m and 100m backstroke events.
George’s dad was responsible for introducing his daughter to swimming, when he brought her along to swim with his coach at Manurewa Swimming Club. Her interest began with learning to swim and general fitness, before she moved to MAGS to further develop her technique.
In recent years, George has transferred to Coast to be coached by Michael Weston, which has been a catalyst for her drive to achieve her goals and rediscovered passion for the sport. George loves the structure, purpose and constant growth of the sport, and enjoys the feeling of pushing herself to new limits. She embraces that everyone has a different journey and has been making the most of every moment along the way.
George had a breakout 2025 Apollo Projects NZ Swimming Championships, winning her first national titles in the 50m and 100m backstroke. It backed up her performance from the month prior when she achieved the qualifying time for her first New Zealand team.
At the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, George placed 25th in the 50m backstroke and 29th in the 100m backstroke.
